Hose pumps or peristaltic pumps are used to transfer liquids and are almost universally applicable. Their functionalities offer a wide range of advantages. Sensitive substances are being transferred gently and the pumps themselves are self-priming and capable of running dry. The tubing and its connections are the only parts that come into contact with the substances. Through the use of a wide variety of tube materials the peristaltic pump is capable of transferring many different substances and can also be employed to transfer liquids containing particles and of higher viscosity. Yet another strong feature is its low maintenance.
